The Best Albums of 2012

It’s this time again. Albums of the year. Don’t have my usual ten albums this year like I used to in 2011 and 2010, but hey so what? The ones I’ve got are good ones though. In no particular order.

Great band, fearless musicians and tremendously innovative. Haters gonna hate, but I love it.

Some true gems on this. Talking predominantly ‘Pyramids’ and ‘Bad Religion’. Worthy follow-up to ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’.

Big. ‘Backseat Freestyle’ - HUGE!

I know, I know it’s all been out before, but to hear it remastered and as one coherent album makes it all the more enjoyable. So much love.

Some indie stuff I like.

Mainly because of ‘110%’. What a tune.

Da man!!!

Death Grips – No Love Deep Web

Simply because his relentless, don’t give a fuck attitude and all the fun bizzznizzzz with the record label really amused me, the tunes are sick and his angry energy is actually quite gripping. Literally. Also let’s not forget THAT COVER.

The Best Albums of 2011

The best albums of the year according to, errr, me.

Immense. I mean it’s Drake. The best album I have heard in a long time.

Just fell in love straight away…

Next Level.

Primal, pure and at times petrifying, also pretty weird in a good way.

....simply stunning

Nothing like Jack Johnson. Thank God.

So understated, so underrated, so simple and yet so beautiful. Okay gonna stop with this alliteration shizzle now.

8.     Frank Ocean – Nostalgia/Ultra
Different. Good.

On top form.

Intense

My Albums of 2010

Hello lovers, my albums of 2010 in a few words.

Zola Jesus – Stridulum II

Read this, that’s all.

Perfume Genius – Learning

Makes me wanna give him a big hug. Sadness and loneliness translate very well to his heartbreakingly fragile tunes.

Yeasayer – ODD BLOOD

Makes me wanna embrace the whole world. Makes me happy. Makes me wanna dance. Makes me wanna talk to people about it. Makes for a perfect record.

Kele – The Boxer

TUNAGE. That’s all.

Salem – King Night

Beautiful coffin music. The dichotomy of light and dark makes this intense and powerful, disturbing and beautiful.

These New Puritans – HIDDEN

A masterpiece. One of its kind. Stunning.

The Wanted – The Wanted

Pop at its best.

Johnny Flynn – Been Listening

Pure. Witty. Poetic. Breath-taking. Full of life. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Sleigh Bells – Treats

Great Noise.

Male Bonding – Nothing Hurts

Everyone needs a bit of male bonding every now and then.
